 Redress Restitution and Redemption

Diana Santa Maria's mission on behalf of clients is to seek redress for their injuries, secure full restitution for their loss and finally, to find redemption that transforms a client’s loss or injury into something more meaningful, both for the client and sometimes, for the public good.

She is recognized as a fierce advocate on behalf of victims of corporate negligence and greed leading to safety violations. In the early 90’s shortly after starting her own firm, Diana took on the State of Florida Department of Transportation and numerous contractors, engineering firms and road construction companies for negligent construction of a super highway (The Sawgrass Expressway) which caused puddling in the highway resulting in multiple accidents, injuries and ultimately a death. The state and contractors vigorously defended the case denying that there was a problem. Her lawsuit was a catalyst for the repair of the problem which corrected the puddling with the simple installation of a drain, saving untold lives and stopping the chain of accidents that were occurring.

In 2008 she brought a lawsuit in Federal court against Ironman North America and USA Triathlon for the death of a swimmer in the Panama City Ironman competition (Bernard Rice) when organizers failed to follow safety protocols, provide adequate supervision or cardiopulmonary resuscitation equipment for the number of participants in the triathlon. The lawsuit which was tried in Federal court raised awareness of the need to heighten risk management protocols at triathlon and similar competitive events for the safety of the participants.

Awarded the Florida Justice Association’s “Compassionate Gladiatrix” Award in 2016 and the American Board of Trial Advocates ( ABOTA- Ft. Lauderdale Chapter) “Trial Lawyer of the Year” Award, Diana is listed in Best Lawyers in America, the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and is a frequent author and lecturer in her field.
